This crazy world we live in

Let's get real here. We don't live in a black and white world. We live in a world where grey rules reality. However, and unfortunately, the second anything that remotely comes into consideration in which race could possibly be a factor, a statement that could possibly misconstrued as racist, that statement is jumped on. People are automatically attacked and destroyed.
With today's elections, the tiniest comment can be construed as racist, sexist or any other kind of 'ist' that you can find. The latest comment has been made by a person in Hillary Clinton's camp who made a comment that Obama happens to be where he is because he is black. Lord was that statement jumped on.
Geraldine Ferraro was completely attacked for her statements, who has since come back and defended them, stating that she was simply stating a fact, rather than making a racist comment. If you think about it, it's rather true. Barack Obama probably wouldn't be as far along in the Presidential Race if he were a white man with the same Senate experience. There are a lot of people who feel that he doesn't have the experience that he needs to be the next President, but because he's not another middle age white man from the south, they want to see him as the next President, because its a change. And let's also get real, Hillary Clinton wouldn't be nearly as far along as she is if she wasn't Bill's wife. People wouldn't be as open to her. She got experience by being the former First Lady. People respect her for it and know that she has former experience that could seriously help her out in the end.
But these statements were jumped at. Attacked and destroyed. Because his skin color was brought up, Geraldine Ferraro was automatically pegged as a racist. Let's get real. A lot of people in this country are voting based solely on the fact that Obama is black or Hillary is female. They aren't stopping to listen to what they have to say, what their plans are or even stopping to see if they are going to make a good President. They just want to see a black man, or a woman in the top spot.
It's a bit sad really. Instead of stopping to see if that person is fit for the job, they are basing it solely on what that person looks like. There is an old saying "Don't judge a book by it's cover". That saying rarely used for actual literature but is so very true about humans. If everyone judged everyone else solely on their outward appearance, n one would ever be happy, we'd all walk around hating each other, and let's face it, we'd never have a President because we'd never have a large enough group of people agreeing on ONE person.
I'm tired of people taking every little comment as racist or sexist. This race is full of mudslinging from the actual candidates, we don't need it from the news sources as well.
